This policy covers two things: the Lights Out iOS app and this website (lights-out.app), which hosts our launch waitlist. They handle data differently, so each gets its own section.

The Lights Out app

Lights Out works without an account. If you never sign in, your nights journal, streak, and settings live only on your phone. Nothing is sent to us, and deleting the app deletes the data.

Optional backup account. You can sign in with Apple or Google to back up your data, so your streak survives a new phone. When you do, we store your email address (Apple may give us a relay address), an account id, and the content you created in the app: your nights journal (dates, the reason you chose, how each night ended, wind-down length) and your settings. This is stored with our database provider, Supabase, and is used only to back up and restore your own data. We do not sell it, share it, or use it for advertising. The app contains no ads and no tracking.

App blocking (Screen Time). The nightly lock uses Apple's Screen Time (the FamilyControls framework) to shield your apps. You choose to turn this on, and you can turn it off any time in Settings. The list of what is blocked stays inside Apple's on-device Screen Time system. We never see it, never store it, and never send it anywhere.

Motion data. The 10-squat unlock uses your phone's motion sensor to count squats. Counting happens entirely on the device. Motion data is never stored and never leaves your phone.

Subscription. Lights Out is a paid subscription, handled by Apple's In-App Purchase and our billing provider, RevenueCat. RevenueCat identifies your subscription with an anonymous id that is not linked to your name or your backup account, and tracks your purchase and renewal status so the app knows you are subscribed. Your payment details are handled by Apple, not by us. We do not sell this data or use it for advertising. Manage or cancel your subscription any time in your Apple account settings.

Notifications. Reminders are local notifications scheduled on your phone at times you choose (a nightly reminder, a goal-time nudge, and a one-time reminder before a free trial ends). We do not send remote push messages.

Deleting your data. You can delete your account and your cloud backup from inside the app: open Settings, tap Manage account, then Delete account. This permanently removes your account and everything stored with it. Data saved on your phone stays on your phone until you delete the app. You can also email us at the address below and we will remove your account for you.

This website (waitlist)

The website collects the email address you submit when you reserve a spot, and basic analytics about your visit (pages viewed, the ad or link that referred you, and standard advertising identifiers). We use privacy analytics and the Meta advertising pixel/Conversions API to measure whether our ads work; your email is hashed before it is sent to Meta. We use your email only to tell you about the Lights Out launch and founding-member pricing. We do not sell your data. You can unsubscribe at any time, and you can ask us to delete your email by contacting us.
